Besides being delicious and aphrodisiacs, strawberries are rich in vitamins, minerals, nutrients and antioxidants that take care of body, skin and hair.
Strawberries not only spoil our tastes, but our skin, too. You can use them for face mask, scrubs or toners.
Cleanser: Because they are rich in Vitamin C, salicylic acid and antioxidants, you can use strawberries to clean your face. Salicylic acid will remove dead cells and antioxidants will handle cell regeneration.
Brighter skin: strawberry juice brightens the face because it reduces blemishes and freckles. Squeeze a few strawberries, put the juice in a small cup and apply it on face and neck with a cotton pad. After 10-15 minutes rinse with warm water.
Face tonic: Mix two teaspoons of strawberry juice with rose water and keep the liquid in the refrigerator. This mix can be used after cleansing, as a toner to reduce wrinkles. This juice can be refrigerated up to 10 days but wouldn’t be a bad idea to put some in your ice cube tray.
Anti aging: Vitamin C and antioxidants prevent the effects of skin and body aging caused by free radicals. Free radicals arise from the transformation of food into energy and accelerate the cells aging. Here comes the role of vitamin C that block the aging process. To prepare an anti-aging mask with strawberries you need: 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 teaspoons of milk and strawberry puree (you can crush them with a fork or blender). Apply this 3 ingredients paste on your face or neck and let it act for 20 minutes. Rinse with water and dab your face with a clean towel. This mask is suitable for mature skins cell regeneration, giving it a healthy and young appearance.
Acne treatment: Having Vitamin C, alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid and flavonoids in their composition, strawberries proved to be effective in the acne treatment. Mix 7-8 crushed strawberries with 2 teaspoons of milk, apply the mixture on your face and rinse after 10 minutes. Do this 2 times a week.
Reduce puffiness under the eyes. Because they are astringent, strawberries are effective in reducing puffiness. Keep a few strawberries in the refrigerator and cut them into thin slices. Sit comfortably on a sofa and put the strawberry slices on the area under the eyes and relax for 10- 15 minutes. Finally, wash with cold water and apply a moisturizing cream.
Strawberries are effective for hair treatments due to copper, magnesium and omega-3, ingredients the hair needs in order to be healthy and to have shine. Strawberries reduce excess sebum because they are astringent, they have anti-fungal effect on the scalp due to minerals (copper, magnesium) and they can cure dandruff in combination with tea tree oil.
#Summer tip: Prepare a summer tea adding a few strawberries on your tea kettle. Pour warm water, cover and let it stand 5 minutes. Strain the tea and add ice cubes and honey. Serve this drink cold, decorated or not, with a few slices of strawberries.
Try eating strawberries as soon as you buy them and wash them before eating. If you store them, try placing them in a single layer in an airtight refrigerator container for 2 to 3 days.
